Polygon Bike Design 2008 Winner
The 1st Polygon International Bike Design Competition 2008 is aimed to encouraging innovative ideas from creative people and strengthening the awareness of public about the significance role of bike design for ecological vehicle.
This competition with a theme of “bike design and lifestyle” has been participated by 236 participants from over the world. Among them are from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Italy, Iran, Hungary, The Philippine, and Israel. From those participants, the board of jury has already selected 16 finalists and conducted two days interviewing process on 16th - 17th September 2008 at Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) of Indonesia. The jury consists of industrial design intellectuals, bike designers, marketing and lifestyle expert, such as: Dr. Dudy Wiyancoko (Industrial Design – ITB, Indonesia/Jury Head), Dr. Yen Ching Chiuan (National University of Singapore), Dr. M. Hariri Abdullah (UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia), Renan Zendy (R & D, Polygon), Peter Mulyadi (Marketing, Polygon) and Ilham Khoiri (Media).
The jury has already ranked the first, second, and third winner through five points of criteria: (1) Originality of the idea; (2) Peculiarity of the design; (3) Usability or the functionality and conformity of the use; (4) Marketability, and; (5) Producability or the feasibility to be real mass-produced by Polygon.
Third winner for USD 1500 is a design work titled “Roadie” by Benny Tan, Lim Jian, and Frederick Phua, from Singapore. The strong point they come up is a new alternative folding system for the future foldable bike. A pair of compasses-like foldable structure would make the bike be more packed efficiently for public outdoor activities.
Second winner for USD 3000 is a bike with special compartment titled “Workbox” by Bramono Sasongko and Kiki Bimasakti from Indonesia. This bike is designed for public servicers such as for the policemen, postmen, and paramedic as their ‘green vehicle’ in the future urban use. This bicycle is facilitated with a special compartment for stuff carrier and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for more efficient pedaling.
And first winner for USD 5000 prize money is a kiddy bike called “Boo-boo” by Rian Satya Wijaya from Indonesia. This work is based on a fresh idea in functioning a kiddy bike as well as a knock-down educative toy. The five year old and older kids will be having an innovative vehicle by assembling it at first before riding it. The big rear wheel can be used also as a portable bucket for storing all of the assembled parts.
FAVORIT WINNER
The Favorit Winner based on result of the internet polling on the deadline date (17 Oktober 2008), goes to design work titled "Cania" by Rizky Yulian and Ananggadipa from Indonesia. Cania is a multipurpose bike with its foldable structure which is possible to be used as a shopping trolley, container, and other functions.

The Singapore Motor Show, the biggest motor show in Singapore is opening today! And this time , Polygon is invited in as the only bicycle that qualified the standart as a Global Brand.
As the show theme: Eco- technology, Polygon give solution as alternate transport vechile that not only eco- friendly, but also fits the lifestyle of people nowadays. In this event, Polygon show three big attractions. One, is the launching of the new 2009 line-up, Second is the showcase of 16 finalist of the International Bike design competition, and the last is The Cyclosimulator Race game.
In the first event, we can see the long-awaited new color and models of Collossus DH 2; now with Orange-red- Iron-man style; all-new Helios 780 with simpler curve and elegantly decal that make Mr Teo Ser Luck , Singapore Senior Parliementary Secretary and Ministry of Community Development, whose opened the Show today , quite amazed when coming to the Polygon booth, and also Cozmic DX 4, the Dirt Jumper; now “Go-Green”.
These three, along with new appearance of Collossus AX3, Cozmic RX3, and the new line of Hybrid Bikes: the new Galleon, The best seller Heist, Orion, and two newcomers, waltz and Xabre has catched many of the visitors. But it isn’t over---Urbano, the latest Folding bike from Polygon sure fits in the lifestyle of Urban people.
In the Bike Design side, all 16 models also make the visitors stop and take many photographs of them. Not because all the models are cute, but also give new persections in the how transportation and lifestyle can be blended. The Winner Ceremony also will be held in October 4th, 2008 in this event.

The last attraction is the Cyclosimulator race game. As in the name, visitors can apply for the competition with no charge, and begin the race with other 3-4 people. It’s sure fun and also they will get many prizes, including $58-worth bikes for the first prize, and $350-woth bike for second and third winners. In Polygon booth, Colnago with its Ferrari bikes, and Shimano with the all-new DuraAce from Euro bikes, also showing as Rodalink is the authorized distibutor for South East Asia.
